Who can participate in the Lion Cubs Mathematical Contest? expand_more

The contest is open to students aged 7–11 years. Participants are grouped by age: Group A (7–8), Group B (8–9), Group C (9–10), and Group D (10–11). Schools register through a Team Leader, while individual students can participate online via a parent acting as Team Leader.

How does a school register? expand_more

A teacher from the school registers as a Team Leader through the Team Leaders Portal. The Team Leader then registers individual students, manages payments, and downloads results and certificates after the contest.

Can a parent register their child individually? expand_more

Yes. A parent can act as a Team Leader and register their child for online participation. However, online participants receive only a raw score and do not qualify for official awards or certificates, as the testing conditions cannot be standardised.

What is the registration fee? expand_more

What is the format of the contest? expand_more

Each age group receives a paper with a mix of question types. The contest is administered at the school by the Team Leader under standardised conditions. For full details, visit the Competition Format page.

What topics does the contest cover? expand_more

Topics vary by age group and include arithmetic, geometry, patterns, logic, measurement, and more. See the complete Syllabus for each group.

Are calculators allowed? expand_more

No. Calculators, electronic devices, and mobile phones are not permitted during the contest. Students should rely on mental arithmetic and written calculations.

How are results delivered? expand_more

Results are published in the Team Leaders Portal. Team Leaders can view individual student scores, rankings, and download certificates. Top performers are also listed on the Results page.

How are certificates distributed? expand_more

Certificates are generated in the Team Leaders Portal and downloaded by the school's Team Leader (teacher). Teachers then present the certificates to students during school assemblies. Each participating student receives a Certificate of Participation, and top performers receive additional awards.

What awards are available? expand_more

Awards include Certificate of Participation, Certificate of Distinction, Gold Award (top 5%), Silver Award (top 10%), and Bronze Award (top 25%). Schools also receive recognition. See Awards & Recognition for full details.
